I've had a few people ask me why my blog is named Camp Slop, so I thought I'd share the story behind the name.
My husband and I LOVE to camp. Before we had kids we went camping almost every weekend in the summer. We had a great time hiking, swimming and cooking over a campfire. We had a signature breakfast that we made every morning. It was basically a mixture of whatever we had on hand - eggs, peppers, onions, leftover meat from dinner....anything. We would roll it into a tortilla, top with salsa and we had a delicious, hardy breakfast. We nicknamed it "camp slop" and joked that "it's slop, but it's goooood!" Eventually camp slop developed into a real recipe (eggs, hash browns, bacon, cheese, onions, peppers and cheese) and we made it at home too, not just when camping.
So, when I started my blog, I knew it would be about a little bit of everything - cooking, crafts, kids, internet nonsense - you get the idea. The name just sort of fit. And I like that it brings up happy memories of mornings around the campfire. I hope that soon (we have plans for this summer!) there will be actual camping content on my blog. Pinky has only been camping once (and she loved it) and Chaos will be making his first trek into the woods. We decided long ago that camping as a family would only be fun once the kids were able to sleep through the night. The only thing worse than having a fussy baby up all night - is having a fussy baby up all night with no conveniences of home!
So, in honor of my camping memories (and the spring weather), here are some pictures from our trips in years past. I hope you enjoy!

Mmmm...love to cook with fire.

Hopefully this summer we will have an updated family camping picture that includes Chaos!
