We picked S as our letter of the week this week because it just fit in so well (Spring, St. Patrick's Day, shamrocks...).
First we made a Sticker Snake (I'm sure you've all read about them in your animal science books, right?).
We made shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day (pictured in a previous post this week) and played a St. Patty's Day scavenger hunt from No Time For Flashcards. Pinky loved this game (we're still playing it), and it is helping her learn to recognize her numbers.
Next, we planted flowers for spring. She was SO excited to do this. We had an old plastic pot lying around the house. It was one of those "color your own" that had already been colored. I removed the paper insert, traced it on some construction paper and cut a new insert. We picked some pretty purple flowers to grow since that is Pinky's favorite color. She's already so excited about watering it and caring for it.
Finally, we made soap shapes. I found the instructions here. We altered it to make shapes using cookie cutters. Very simple and easy craft to do with preschoolers.
Digging into the soap and water mixture.
Filling the cookie cutter.
She loved the way the soap felt in her hands. I am, of course, a fan of any self cleaning craft!
